This is your opportunity to share your thoughts on the implementation plan and to discuss what does and does not work in accessing long-term care.

House Bill 1100 (Sales Tax Revenue to Older Coloradans Cash Fund), by Reps. Steve Lebsock and Kit Roupe’ and Sens. Larry Crowder and Jessie Ulibarri, is a bipartisan measure to increase the amount credited to the Older Coloradans Cash Fund by $4 million. Have to share a reminder for those in Colorado - 9HealthFair is here!

For those of you in Colorado, check out the 9Health Fair to find low cost health screenings over the next few months. 9Health Fair is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with great sponsors that make this wonderful program happen at locations across the state. Most of the fairs are in April but a few start up in late March and go into May.

Many of the local health fair sites offer online registration through the event website. Adult Children 18 and over can participate along with seniors and adults of all ages. Make it a family event and check your cholesterol results together and discuss the results.

There are over 25 screenings available at the fairs, along with the 9Health Fair test results. Test Results are mailed directly to you within three to six weeks of your visit to a fair and the cost is very reasonable - often less than what your insurance company will charge you. Sometimes you just find something really Interesting

Kudos to the Mobile Museum of Art for thinking outside of the box. Although what else would one expect from an Art Museum!

Located in Mobile, Alabama, the Mobile Museum of Art is offering a creative program for adults with Alzheimer’s disease and their caregivers. Called Keepsake, the program is meant to add meaning to the lives of those living with early stage dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.

The museum offers the tours on Mondays for small groups (reservations in advance are required). Mondays is when the museum is usually closed. These Monday tours are free of charge to the participants which can include family members and caregivers. The point of the Keepsake program is to connect with creative thinking and imagination of those with dementia. The creative mental skills are often still functioning even though language and short term memory are affected by the early stage dementia. We hope to hear an update about how this program works. It sounds like a wonderful idea! Again, Kudos!
