I know someone who recently had an attack of Vertigo during a bad cold. As any well-trained boomer they went to their favorite search engine (Google.com) and did some searching. They shared with me a resource they found on WebMD - it is an article about a home remedy for vertigo. I was like really - home remedy? Exploring 2-1-1

I was doing some research and found a Colorado 2-1-1 site that is quite impressive for its list of resources for those in need. Visit 211colorado.communityos.org and in particular check out the Search the 2-1-1 Database. You can search by counties in Colorado and find resources such as Dental Clinics, Rental Assistance, information on Medicaid and more. A few topics seem to have search results that are misclassified however if you are looking for resources for those in need, this website has a lot of helpful resources. If you are not in Colorado and looking for resources for those in need - try the www.211.org call center. You enter your phone number and the system gives you the listing for the local United Way chapter serving that area and website links. And always remember that you can call 2-1-1 and be connected to resources locally. 2-1-1 is a program of United Way - learn more about the organization - www.unitedway.org.

Found SRDA in Pueblo

Pueblo, Colorado - Just wanted to share the SRDA website in Pueblo. SRDA stands for Senior Resource Development Agency. Their website is www.srda.org. If you are in the Pueblo area check out this organization. The website is filled with local resources. They also have a great event calendar. They are located at the Joseph H. Accessible Systems hits a homerun with their show room

I attended a networking meeting for professionals serving seniors in the Denver area today. Our group was hosted by a company called Accessible Systems located in Englewood, Colorado. This company has the most awesome show room of products designed to help seniors and the disabled age in place. Aside from the products, their expertise in installation and remodeling with class and style is amazing! Check them out. American Red Cross First Aid App for Android

I added the official American Red Cross First Aid App to my smart phone some months ago. I think this is one app I would recommend. One of the most amazing parts of the app are the videos that review common first aid emergencies.
