Finding events on Seniors Resource Guide just got easier. You may or may not have noticed, but we have moved all of our Events & News pages over to Google calendars. We have also made some changes and now have one page that has links to all of the Events & News pages. This is a FREE health and wellness event taking place on October 25, 2014, from 1:00PM to 3:00PM. The event is at the Denver Post Building located at 101 W. Colfax Avenue in Denver, Colorado. Medicare’s Open Enrollment Period Starts October 15th

October 15th to December 7th is when ALL people with Medicare can change their Medicare health plan and prescription drug coverage for 2015. Information on 2015 plans will be available beginning in October. People with Medicare can call 1-800-MEDICARE or visit www.medicare.gov for plan information. If a person is satisfied that their current plan will meet their needs for next year, they don’t need to do anything.

We are watching the growth of Death Cafe and what is a Death Cafe?

With a Death Cafe, the idea is to get people from all backgrounds together over tea, coffee and delicious cake, to simply talk about death, a normal aspect of life that is generally feared by our culture. The hope of the Death Cafe movement is to simply normalize this phase of life by allowing groups of people to talk about death. Have you seen NIHSeniorHealth? This website has health and wellness information for older adults. The website was developed by the National Institute on Aging (NIA) and the National Library of Medicine (NLM) which are both part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The website features health topics such as Bones and Joints, Cancer, Diseases and Conditions, Healthy Aging, Heart and Lungs, Memory and Mental Health, Treatments and Therapies and Vision and Hearing. Their topics are also available in an alphabetical A-Z search. Many of their health and wellness resources have videos. Here is their website:
